Painting & Decorating Projects Across London
Finished work, photographed as we left it. Every project below shows the room before we started as well as after, because the before is usually the more useful picture — it tells you what state a house can be in and still come good.
Where a job had something awkward about it, we have said so.
Full interior repaint with cornice restoration
A four-bedroom terrace off Upper Street that had not been decorated in around twenty years. The cornice detail in the front room had been painted over so many times the leaf pattern had almost disappeared.
We spent the first two days on preparation alone before a tin was opened.
- Cornice softened and scraped back by hand
- Walls, ceilings, skirting and architrave throughout
- Staircase spindles sprayed rather than brushed
- Nine working days, family stayed in throughout
Shaker units resprayed in situ
The units were sound but dated, and a replacement kitchen had been quoted at several thousand pounds. Respraying cost a fraction of that and took under a week.
Doors came off, went to the spray booth and came back. Carcasses and frames were masked and sprayed on site.
- Degreased, keyed and primed before topcoat
- Two-pack finish, hard-wearing around handles
- New handles fitted, old holes filled
- Four working days, kitchen usable each evening
Exterior repaint and sash window restoration
Six-over-six sashes on a listed street, several painted shut and one with rot in the bottom rail. The rotten section was cut out and spliced rather than replaced, which kept the original glass and the conservation officer happy.
Booked in April and finished before the wet weather came in.
- Sashes freed, re-corded and draught-proofed
- Rotten timber spliced, original glass retained
- Stucco washed, stabilised and recoated
- Twelve working days across a dry spell
